These images were taken with modified cameras in which the standard infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) filters in front of the sensor were removed (full spectrum modification). This change allows the camera to capture a broader spectrum of light than the human eye can perceive. Images taken with such cameras may show minor artifacts of the modification process, such as adhesive residue or traces of processing. The colors can also be shifted, changed or appear completely new, as the camera software has not been programmed to deal with such information.
With Sigma Foveon cameras, the filter in front of the sensor can be easily removed. With other cameras, it is often necessary to unscrew the camera to remove the filter.
