2016, Foveon digital photographs of mountain landscape as inkjet print on self-adhesive textile film, laminated on steel plate

Erik Arkadi Seth

Hike through the sandstone labyrinth of the Tyssa Walls, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day 2015/2016.

Photographed with Sigma DP2 Merrill digital camera with Foveon image transmitter. The Foveon sensor uses the principle that light of different wavelengths (i.e. colors) penetrates silicon to different depths: Blue light is absorbed in the uppermost layer, green light penetrates deeper and is collected in the middle layer, while red light penetrates deepest and is registered in the lowest layer. This feature allows the sensor to capture full color information at every point in the image.
